The Hunt is On

Hi all Style Princesses - we have a little challenge for you. We have had a request to find out where we can purchase or who the designer is of the gorgeous dress Miranda Kerr was seen wearing in the picture below. It was pictured in the Daily Telegraph and was titled 'Miranda Kerr Back in Australia'. Any ideas? If you get back to us with the answer you will receive a $20AUD Style Palace shopping voucher.

True Friendships Last a Lifetime

This is not a fashion or style related entry but more a special message and a beautiful story for all animal lovers. I just saw this story on the late night news and had to share it with you.

It's about two guys who, in 1969 bought a lion cub from Harrod's in London. Named Christian, they raised the cub until he became too big to stay with them so they eventually had to travel to Africa to set him free into his natural habitat. 12 months later they returned to Africa to see if they could find Christian and were told that Christian would now be wild and wouldn't even remember them. Check out what happened on YouTube - Christian the Lion.

The latest women’s fragrance by Gucci, aptly named Gucci by Gucci, is the first major fragrance release under the fashion and beauty house’s new Creative Director, Frida Giannini.

In the past, Giannini has been known for her attraction to masculine fragrant notes, but this new scent is intended for the strong yet feminine woman and though a little overpowering at first, it settles beautifully on the skin.

The fragrance notes include patchouli, honey, musk, raspberry, spider lily, guava and orange blossom which meld together to create a very seductive scent.

The Powder Puff Girls

While holidaying in Bali I met up with Sydney makeup artist, hairdresser and stylist, Katrina Raftery who was in Bali to work on a photo shoot for popular resort fashion label, Biasa. The Biasa model just happened to be fellow Perth girl, Bridget Harries from Scene Models. We spent an evening hanging together in tropical Bali before the girls had to go on location to Lombok for the shoot.

We spent much of our time together chatting about makeup, fashion and style tips and tricks which brings me to the original reason for this blog ... Katrina told me to check out a great website called The Powder Puff Girls and I wanted to share it with you too - I think it's great!

That's all from me ... I just wanted to share The Powder Puff Girls with you as well as a pic of gorgeous Perth model Bridget Harries.

SP now signing off from a great cafe in Bali called Grocer and Grind - also the brainchild of a fellow Perth girl. I'm feeling right at home!

For weekend fun, the Flower Chamois cork wedges are perfect to team with your favourite denim or summery dresses.

If you prefer something a little more adventurous, check out the Art Nouveau inspired heels which boast organic lines and whimsical detailing – Daring, but a true collector’s item.

Love Them and Leave Them ...

Are you currently lusting after a high-end designer bag, but can’t actually bring yourself to splurge on the extravagant price tag?

If you’re anything like us, you also know that the bag you lust after this month will soon be replaced by a new handbag love affair, leaving you with a rather large credit card bill and an unfulfilled desire for new arm candy.

Well thanks to the ingenious idea of Melbourne’s Simonne Santana, you can now join hundreds of ladies who practice loving their designer bags (a little) and then leaving them for the next best thing that comes along!

Love Me and Leave Me works on the basis that not everyone can afford to indulge in luxury designer handbags – despite the little voices in their heads trying to convince them to splurge!
By joining LM&LM you can simply rent your favourite new bag for a period of time, and then send it back to them or swap it for a new little number when you’re over it.

If your handbag fling turns into a full-blown love affair, you can even keep it for yourself and buy it outright at a reduced price.

Choose from a range of beautiful bags from luxury labels such as Chloe, Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Prada, Gucci, Balenciaga, Chanel and Dior.

So if the pure mention of these labels has got your heart racing already, log on to www.lovemeandleaveme.com.au ... and let the games begin!

After all, “all’s fair in love and fashion!”

Life in Transit Brightened by Becca Cosmetics

On a recent horror return journey from Europe, I was spending yet another hour aimlessly wandering through the duty free stores of Singapore’s Changi Airport. Having already clocked up some 36 hours of continuous travel, transit lounges and ghastly plane food, and with home still seeming an eternity away, I found myself chuckle as I recalled the Douglas Adams quote from his hit novel, The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul. “Airports are ugly. Some are very ugly. Some attain a degree of ugliness that can only be the result of a special effort.”

While this quote was certainly true for a number of the other airports I had come across, Changi Airport couldn’t be further from this statement. Changi is an oasis among the other ugly airport terminals of the world. Splashed with bright colour and modern, funky furnishings; even immaculate shower facilities and ‘nap rooms’ and not to forget the trademark beauty of the colourful orchid gardens.

I came to the conclusion, that as a traveller you feel ugly whilst in an airport. I mean, I had black circles and bags under my eyes that were the size of speed humps, and which no amount of Dior eye cream was going to fix. But worst of all...I had ‘kankles!’ Yes that’s right, my feet and ankles had swollen from the change in air pressure, to the extent that they only just fitted back into my dainty ballet flats and left them with an unsightly muffin-top style of overhang. Not exactly the stuff Style Princesses are made of!

So as I wandered the duty-free beauty counters and applied every ‘tester’ possible in an effort to make myself feel clean, human and not at all like Veruca Salt of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, I was delighted when I stumbled upon a Becca Cosmetics counter.

Apparently Changi is the first airport to stock the cult Australian beauty brand, and all of a sudden the airport became even prettier again. Suddenly all the other beauty products dissolved into the background and I felt like I was home. Well, almost.

Within 3 minutes I had found a perfect ‘non sticky’ gloss shade to add to my extensive gloss collection. Becca’s Glossy Lip Tint in Maraschino was an instant winner and now sits proudly on my bathroom counter alongside my Becca Mineral SPF 30 Primer.

Congratulations to Rebecca and her team for their ongoing product innovation and international success.
