Brazilian Keratin Treatment by Louise Jeckells

Thanks to my Italian mother, I can never leave the house on a rainy day without some protection for my curly/frizzy hair. So when I read an article that guarantees straight hair for four months without using harsh chemicals and doesn’t damage your hair…I assumed they were lying. I checked it out, if not for my involuntary hair, but for others like me.

Brazilian Keratin Treatment was established in 2006 by owners, Marcia and Marcelo Teixeira. Maria became a certified cosmetologist and spent the next years studying the systems and working with experts to perfect a new hair treatment that didn’t involve harsh relaxers or chemical steams.

The Brazilian Treatment is a product that is neither a traditional relaxer or a straightener that can only be used on specific hair types. It does not involve a chemical treatment that will leave the hair in a bad condition.

So how do they do this? Unlike other methods of straightening hair, the keratin treatment doesn’t involve breaking down the hair and reconstructing it by using high ph levels. This very high alkalinity softens the hair too much causing the hair to damage. Keratin treatment uses low ph levels, which match the normal level of your hair.

Brazilian Keratin Treatment is practically risk free when used correctly. Unfortunately, Australia doesn’t have training classes yet so you can’t learn how to use the product efficiently, however if ordering it online it does come with a training manual.

The treatment is gentle on hair and long lasting. It eventually washes out over time without any harm.

I weighed up my options and the fact that I like the option of having curly hair sometimes, so decided to stay away from this trend. But girls, as far as hair treatments go, Keratin looks like a winner.

Don’t forget to post me a comment if you know anyone that has used this product, we would all like to know how it turned out.

We use the Coppola Keratin treatment, but I've heard great things about the Brazilian as well.

We have used this on many variations of clients, and many of our African American clients have switched to the Keratin over the relaxer.

Great product for wavy to curly hair! Not for everyone, but great success with those who have decided to give it a try.

Great, honest post Louise!
