Sex and the City Style

After deciding on having a lazy Sunday by myself I headed to my favourite cafe for a delicious breakfast and an equally satisfying tall soy cappuccino. After spending a relaxing couple of hours enjoying my own company and scouring the Sunday Times I left and soon found myself in a popular local boutique where within 10 minutes I purchased a very flattering pair of Paige Denim wide leg jeans - I was one happy girl! I then had a moment and decided to go and see Sex and the City all by myself and I was glad I did - I laughed and cried during the whole movie and was very happy that no-one else was there to see me in this state.

This brings me to my reason for this blog entry ... The Weekend Australian recently reported on how sexy work gear can be detrimental to women's chances in the workplace and how through shows like Sex and the City women are inspired to dress in a more provocative and daring way. This they say is preventing women from getting jobs and from gaining opportunities to climb the corporate ladder.

Style Palace agrees and women should be smart enough to know what the dresscode in their workplace is and tailor their style accordingly, but on the other hand I also love the quote ...

"Dress for the job you want - not the job you have"

I think this is a great rule to follow but obviously you wouldn't want to be dressing as a pole dancer while working in an inner city law firm!

Back to the movie - it was fabulous and with over 300 gorgeous designer outfits adorning Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha who wouldn't want to take on their style. I was mesmerised and very inspired to see the Sex and the City girls in action again as well as with the closing line in the movie ...

Beauty Tips - Body Brushing

SP loves her beauty tips and products and here is a great one to share with you. While some tips don't quite stack up, SP has be trialing 'Body Brushing' and it really does work.

Body brushing has incredible health and skin benefits and is great for stimulating circulation, exfoliating, smoothing out lumpy and uneven skintone as well as eliminating toxins from your body. SP has been body brushing morning and night (before showering) for about two months and is noticing a big difference - which is just as well as SP will be donning a bikini on holiday in Bali next month!

SP has been using the body brush from The Body Shop. Find out more on body brushing by visiting Your Beauty Spot.

Try body brushing - you'll be amazed at the results.

SP Loves Kirrily Johnston

We love the new Kirrily Johnston collection – which is being snapped up by celebrities and Style Princesses alike!

A recent SP purchase is the Hooded Wanderer which we spotted on Kirrily herself during fashion week.

Another Kirrily fan is none other than Mischa Barton, who was front row at her recent show.

Yves Saint Laurent

Sadly, one of the most renowned French fashion designers of the 20th century, Yves Saint Laurent, passed away in Paris last night at the age of 71.

Saint Laurent was originally hired by leading couturier, Christian Dior, who had seen something special in his designs. When Christian Dior died suddenly three years later (1957), Saint Laurent took his place of head couturier at the house of Dior.

In 1960 he left Dior to found his own company – Yves Saint Laurent – and went on to become one of the few leading designers of the 20th Century. Yves Saint Laurent retired from haute couture design in 2002. He was at the top of the fashion world and recognised as one of fashion’s greats, next to the likes of Coco Chanel and Christian Dior.

Saint Laurent’s empire expanded to include the ready-to-wear Rive Gauche label, accessories, perfumes and beauty products.

Of Saint Laurent, fellow designer Christian Lacroix once said: “Yves Saint Laurent is much more versatile...I sometimes think he’s got the form of Chanel with the opulence of Dior and the wit of Schiaparelli.”

He will be remembered for his versatility and evolving style and his ability to effortlessly fuse body and garment as one.

“Fashion fades, style is eternal.”

Creative way to K.O. the Toad

Melbourne bag and accessories label Ceinture is set to take the Australian and international market by storm.

Sisters Kimberley and Stephanie Bunning launched their label in 2007 with the aim to provide quality bags and accessories that were stylish, functional and timeless.

Ceinture’s SS 08/09 collection boasts beautifully crafted pieces from premium quality cow hide; Himalayan sheep, emu and kangaroo skins and they have even found a beautiful use for the dreaded cane toad!

Stephanie says they chose cane toad leather because they wanted to utilise as many Australian products as possible.

The toad looks like snake or crocodile once it has been tanned up and makes for a striking point of difference from other accessories available on the market.

Style Palace brings you Ceinture’s collection – including the cane toad embellished belt – in September 2008.
IT'S TIME TO BELT THE CANE TOAD
